Phyllis Carbo- Female District Leader
Phyllis Carbo was born and raised here in Brooklyn and is a lifelong resident of the Bensonhurst-Gravesend community. She graduated from Lafayette High School and has a long record of civic involvement including President of the Women's Auxiliary of the Marlboro American Legion Post, Treasurer of the 86th Street Bath Beach Kiwanis Organization, and member of the American Committee on Italian Migration.
Phyllis is a former supervisor for the District Council of the Carpenter's Union. In 2010 she ran for New York State Assembly because she wanted to make life better for our district--and all New Yorkers.
Currently she serves as our community's 47th A.D. Republican District Leader. Phyllis is proudest of serving as a Reagan Delegate to the 1976 Republican National Convention.
Russell Gallo- Male District Leader
Russell Gallo has both academic and real-world political experience. He earned a B.A. in Government from John Jay College, and an M.A. in Political Science From Brooklyn College. Russell ran in 2005 for City Council and in 2008 for State Assembly. Since 2005, he has been elected the Male District Leader for the 47th Assembly District. He has also served as Campaign Manager for Bob Capano's 2009 City Council campaign as well as the 2010 campaigns for Ken Rice for City Council and Phyllis Carbo for Assembly. He was also the Brooklyn GOP liaison for Dan Donovan's campaign for Attorney General and Harry Wilson's campaign for State Comptroller. In 2006, Russell also served as a community liaison for Senator Marty Golden. Russell is also currently co-host of "Brooklyn GOP Radio", an innovative internet radio show as well as President of the Brooklyn Young Republicans Club.
Russell is also no stranger to service. Serving this nation for over 14 years, Russell has served in the Army (where he was an MP in Iraq in 2004-2005) and current holds the rank of Sergeant First Class in the National Guard, where he remains on active duty. When not serving our country with honor and distinction, Russell is a Sergeant for the MTA Bridges & Tunnels.
